The Negroni is a classic Italian cocktail with a rich history. Its inception is credited to Count Camillo Negroni in the early 20th century, who asked a bartender to strengthen his Americano (Campari, vermouth, and soda) by replacing the soda with gin. The result was the Negroni, a sophisticated and bittersweet cocktail.
To create a Negroni, mix equal parts of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth over ice in a mixing glass. Stir until well chilled and strain into a rock glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
