What the Experts Say

Proud-fashioned is the way it was described last year. (Bottle image is slightly different to the one pictured here).

This is a particularly good release. Buy and drink this. Go forth. It’s a little leafy, a little leathery, a lot red/black berried and set with a good but appropriate amount of tannin. Vanilla, violet and gum leaf characters are all part of this wine’s shtick, all in a positive way. It’s bang on, and great value.

93/100 - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

Our Notes

A Secret Bottle favourite returns, this time with a slightly fresher and greener 2017 vintage. Deep inky red, violet-redolent, fresh herbs and freshly tilled earth over a base of chocolatey blackcurrant luxury. Strong but velveteen tannin.

Would definitely suit a traditional lamb roast, but more than enjoyable on its own too - if Tim Adams keep it up like they’ve always managed to, it’s entirely likely we’ll feature the next vintage next year.

Winemakers Comments

Cabernet components were separately fermented on skins, Malbec components co-fermented to dryness for seven days before being pressed. All pressings have been returned to the wine to enhance texture and mouth-feel. Each of the parcels of wine spent 24 months ageing in a selected proportion of new, second-use and older French oak in our barrel store prior to blending, fining and bottling in July 2019.

Feel content cellaring this Cabernet Malbec for at least ten years in good conditions. We recommend decanting a few hours before enjoying. The wine has not been cold stabilised, so a harmless crust may form with time.

About the Winery

Since the 1980s, partners Tim Adams and Pam Goldsack have collaborated with the finest Australian growers and winemakers to produce wine for both major market players and their own label. Under the Tim Adams label, they’ve released a consistent stream of well-loved Rieslings in the classic Clare Valley style and bold Shirazes.

The business is ever-growing, and recently purchased 80ha of vineyard to further their operation.

19 crimes

Although the 19 crimes blend is by far my favourite, I was keen to try the whole Red series, The Shiraz was very nice and I would definitely recommend this and the other 19 crimes to anyone 🙃
