Our Notes
From the young-and-cheerful “Siblings” range from Margaret River heavyeights Leeuwin Estate, this sav blanc is heavily varietal in flavour, but specifically in an Australian or even just Western Australian way; lashings of cool apricot and passionfruit rather than a fruit salad approach, with almost a tomato-juice acidity. There’s some spice and cut grass holding it together for a fully-realised package.
From The Winemaker
Fragrant with energy – lemon, cut lime, kiwifruit and gooseberries dominate the nose surrounded by higher floral notes of lemon myrtle, kaffir lime leaf, Thai basil and fennel.
Finger limes, grapefruit, guava and blackcurrants are the pilot behind the palate. Textural, layered and woven mid palate gives gentle capacity, with refreshing sherbet-like acidity. Youthful, playful and energetic.
About the Winery
Part of the initial revival of the Margaret River region in the early ‘70s and active ever since, Leeuwin Estate is now a second-generation family business for the Horgan family and one of the most respected wineries not only in Western Australia but in the whole country. While their “Art Series” Chardonnay is a critically-adored flagship, plenty of interesting options are available at various price points and featuring various varietals.
