Our Notes
Aah, nice! But not through any lack of effort - the stubborn Arneis grape is nicknamed the “little rascal” in its native Piedmont, where it was used to soften, among other things, Barolo.
In the capable hands of Hunter Valley wunderkind Daniel Binet, the little rascal pulls its head in, with orange stonefruit aplenty, a white-floral bouquet and a full-bodied structure not unlike that of a robust Verdelho or unoaked Chardonnay.
Winemakers Comments
Arneis is often called the little 'rascal' as it can challenge a winemaker. In great vintages it is a gorgeous white wine and a great alternative to Semillon, Verdelho or Chardonnay. Crisp and floral, textural, the ultimate food wine. This varietal is delicately floral with some lovely citrus and white jasmine notes the palate is light and not too lean with a pleasingly crisp, textural and gentle acid finish. Perfect partner to pasta and spicy/chilli dishes.
About the Winemaker
Daniel Binet, the founder of Domaine De Binet, is fast becoming one of the Hunter Valley’s most recognized young winemakers and has a great ability to de-mystify the world of wine in a natural and engaging way.
Daniel has been a winemaker for over 17 years in the Hunter Valley wine region of New South Wales, Australia and has been twice nominated for The Wine Society’s Young Winemaker of the Year, Hunter Valley Rising Star, and recently the Hunter Wine Excellence scholarship.
